    Herit in, Chumsy, Muki out of Sharks tie

    Coach Nicholas Muyoti has included forward Nicholas Kipkirui, fullback Herit Mungai, keeper Stephen Njunge, midfielders Elvis Noor Ojiambo and Mike Madoya for the upcoming FKF Premier league game against Kariobangi Sharks in Kasarani Annex on Saturday 5 February 2022 starting 3 pm.

    The quintet return to the squad after missing atleast the last three league games.

    Kipkirui takes up the place of injured Erick Ombija, Madoya comes in for the unavailable Anthony Muki Kimani as Herit takes up the spot of Kevin Chumsy Okumu who is suspended for the game due to the accumulation of five yellow cards.

    Njunge replaces Elvis Ochoro as Elvis comes in for defensive mid Charles Otieno who takes a rest.

    From the unit that faced Sharks in the first leg this season, and lost 2-1 in Ruaraka, changes are three.

    Other than Chumsy and Muki, the other players who will miss out on the game is forward Vincent Jamaica Otieno whose slot has landed on John Kamau.

    Friendly Fire: Nairobi City Stars 6 South B All Stars 0

    Simba wa Nairobi scored thrice in each half to see off visiting South B All Stars during a training match in Ligi Ndogo on Friday 28 January 2022.

    A goal by defensive midfielder Sven Yidah in the 22nd minute off an assist by forward Erick Ombija activated the scoresheet.

    An own goal ten minutes later by Clifford Karani and one more by Ombija off an assist from overall team captain and right back Calvin Masawa in the 38th minute had the scores at 3-0 heading to the break.

    The first half team took a break at the break a whole new lot showed for the second half.

    Nicholas Kipkirui confirmed he’s back to full fitness after recovering from an ankle injury by claiming a brace in the 52nd and 58th minutes.

    His former Zoo FC teammate Mike Madoya sealed the scores with the final goal in the 65th minute.

    Herit Mungai was the toast in the second half as he provided all three assists.

    “We thank South B for granting us the quality friendly. They gave a good account of themselves and we could see lots of potential from their game approach which they can build on to be a force in the near future,” said City Stars team coordinator Samson Otieno after the game

    City Stars will take a rest this fixtureless weekend and will resume training on Monday to continue preparations for the next league assignment against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday 5 February.

    Four changes against Kariobangi Sharks

    Four changes have been made by head coach Nicholas Muyoti from the squad that fired four unanswered bullets against Vihiga on 6th November 2021 during FKF Premier League round six for the upcoming game against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday 4 December 2021 at Ruaraka starting 1 pm.

    Defender Edwin Buliba, midfielders John Kamau and Elvis Noor Ojiambo, as well as Gambian hitman Ebrima Sanneh will miss out on the game.

    In their place comes stopper Lennox Ogutu, midfielder Charles Otieno and flyer Rodgers Okuse Okumu.

    The final entrant to the squad is left-footed Herit Mungai Atariza – a former Sharks player – who makes the Simba wa Nairobi squad for the first time this season.

    Forwards Nicholas Kipkirui and Ebrima Sanneh take a rest alongside youngsters Rowland Makati and Elvis Ochoro.

    They will all watch the game from the sidelines that has the recuperating Wycliffe Otieno, Ronney Kola and Erick Ombija.

    From the squad that hit Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 back in May this year, during their last premier league meeting, the changes are aplenty.

    Bolton Omwenga, Elvis Ojiambo and Nicholas Kipkirui who all started the game at Utalii, as well as Buliba and Sanneh who came on as subs, stopper Wycliffe who was on the bench, are all out of the game.

    Former Sharks player Sven Yidah who was suspended then is back to face his former bosses, alongside recent Kenya team debutant Timothy Noor Ouma and budding striker Vincent Otieno Okoth.

    Lennox, former Tusker lad Mike Madoya and former Nzoia Sugar left-back Dennis Decha Wanjala completed the list of changes.

    A Herit Mungai goal, off a delivery from Calvin Masawa, was the difference when Nairobi City Stars took on Dagoretti Santos in a friendly game at Ligi Ndogo on the morning of Wednesday 27 October 2021.

    Coach Nicholas Muyoti used the friendly to largely hand match fitness to players who are coming through injuries, and/or have not featured in competitive league games so far into the new FKF Premier League season.

    It was the second time this year that City Stars was hosting Dagoretti Santos in a friendly match.

    The two last faced off in May at the Public Service Club (PSC). City Stars won that game 2-0 with goals from Oliver Maloba and Davis Agesa.

  • Herit extends City Stars stay

    Herit extends City Stars stay

    Left-footed Herit Atariza Mungai will stay on at Nairobi City Stars for yet another season after extending his contract for one more year. 

    Herit, a left channel operator, joined Simba wa Nairobi in October 2020 for the 2020-21 season from second-tier side Coast Stima.

    “I am humbled to stay on for yet another season at Nairobi City Stars. I look forward to a better one ahead.” Said Herit

    Team coordinator Samson Otieno was excited by Herit’s decision to remain at Simba wa Nairobi;

    “He is a hard worker and humble player. He was key to the team at the start of last season and was impactful thereafter when called upon from the bench,”

    “We are happy to have him for yet another season as he gives the coach more options to the left-back and left-wing positions.” Added Otieno

    In the ended season, Herit clocked 1,060 minutes gathered from 17 of 33 games. He started 11 times and went on to complete nine of them.
