An early Peter Opiyo penalty was not enough for Nairobi City Stars as FC Talanta scored two quickfire goals in the 63rd and 67th minutes through Gerson Likono and Castro Ogendo to win a match day three (MD3) 2022-23 FKF Premier League tie in Ruaraka on Sunday 4 December 2022.

Opiyo ran in the penalty awarded after striker Vincent Jamaica Otieno was brought down in the box within the first 30 seconds of the game.

Talanta turned the game around after substitute Likono squared a cheeky ball to the far post that bounced over Elvis Ochoro. Moments later, Ogendo sneaked between the stoppers to grab the second.

In the game, Rowland Makati, fielded as a right back, clocked his first full premier league game as keeper Elvis Ochoro grabbed only his second top-flight game.

Next up for Simba wa Nairobi is an away game to Posta Rangers in Thika on Sunday 11 December 2022 starting 3 pm.

Head-to-head: Nairobi City Stars (H) vs FC Talanta (A): 2022-23 FKF Premier League season

For only the second time in the Kenyan Premier League, Nairobi City Stars will host FC Talanta in a third-round tie in Ruaraka on Sunday 4 December 2022 starting 3 pm.

The upcoming tie will be the third overall between the two in Kenya’s apex league, but the first ever in Ruaraka.

Simba wa Nairobi first hosted FC Talanta during the 2021-22 season-ender at Kasarani Annex.

Once again, head coach Nicholas Muyoti will be coming up against his counterpart Ken Kenyatta.

While City Stars carries a loss against Tusker from their last encounter, FC Talanta comes to the duel with a 2-2 draw against Kariobangi Sharks in their season-opener. They sat out match day two.
