    Kamau returns, Atuto joins in

    Left footed John Kamau, a winger cum left back, and center back Tedian Atuto Esilaba, are the latest arrivals at Nairobi City Stars.

    The two completed their entry to Simba wa Nairobi on deadline day – Friday 31 January 2020 – on short term deals to the end of the season.

    Kamau, a former Vapor Sports player spent a year at City stars but left City Stars in mid 2018 to join Tusker FC in the Kenyan Premiership. His return ends six months of league inactivity.

    Tedian, a former Bidco United player arrives from fellow National Super League (NSL) side Fortune Sacco where he was the captain.

    “I am back home. This is where it all started for me and I am glad to return and continue from where I left.” said a beaming Kamau

    On his part Tedian (pictured below) had this to say;

    “To join a team that is chasing promotion is exciting and challenging at the same time. I am glad I can now be part of that journey.”

    Commenting on the two arrivals, head Coach Sanjin had this to say;

    “Kamau provides us with good options on the left channel which will be very important to our course while Teddy (Tedian) solidifies our defense. We welcome them on board.” he said

    The arrival of Kamau and Tedian adds on to four other January signings; midfielder Peter Opiyo, winger Azizi Okaka, keeper Jacob Osano and returning striker Ezekiel Odera.

    They take up the places of eight who exited the club in the just ended transfer window; keeper Vincent ‘DC’ Khatili who has since joined NSL side Kibera Black Stars, defender Cornelius Mutiga Mwangi who is now at Mwatate United, utility back Victor Okulu who joined Mt. Kenya United as well as Peter Wainaina, Heritier Luvualu, defender Agustine Ochieng, striker Stephen Mweni and winger Nahashon Thiong’o.

    Ochieng listed for St. Joseph’s clash

    Two changes have been made by head coach Sanjin Alagic from the squad that travelled to face Modern Coast Rangers last weekend for the upcoming National Super League (NSL) round 17 tie against St. Joseph’s on Sunday 1 December 2019 at Camp Toyoyo starting 3pm EAT.

    Winger Stephen Mweni and defender Cornelius Mwangi were not considered for the Sunday game and in their places defenders Edwin Buliba and spoiler Eric Ochieng have been called in.

    Both Buliba and Ochieng were unused substitutes when City Stars hosted, and drew 0-0, with Ushuru at Hope Centre on Wednesday 13 November 2019.

    They were knocked out of the following game by Peter Mwangi Wainaina and center back Cornelius Mwangi and were to miss the immediate past game away to Modern Coast Rangers in Mombasa last weekend.

    Striker Ebrima Sanneh who suffered food poisoning in the week has passed the test and is expected to start on the bench.

    There is still no place for left back Wesley Onguso who missed the recent Coastal trip due to Malaria.

    Regulars Levis Opiyo, Davis Agesa, Oliver Maloba, Salim Abdalla and reserve keeper Ronny Kagunzi are all in for St. Joseph’s.

    Four changes for ‘unknown’ Muranga SEAL

    Nairobi City Stars head coach Sanjin Alagic has made four key changes to the squad that posted a barren draw against Ushuru last Friday as he shapes up for National Super League (NSL) round 15 game against Muranga SEAL at Camp Toyoyo on Monday 18 November 2019 starting 4pm EAT.

    Midfield marshal Anthony Muki Kimani returns to the squad after two games out serving a red card he received in match day 12 against Migori Youth at Camp Toyoyo. He walks straight to the starting 11 sending teenager Elvis Noor Ojiambo down to the bench.

    The three other changes sees the bench tweaked to include midfielder Peter Mwangi Wainaina (pictured) and center back Cornelius Mwangi. They take up the places of Eric Ochieng and Edwin Buliba, respectively.

    Ojiambo’s drop-down to the bench sends last season’s top scorer and skipper Noah Abich out of the 18-man squad while Muki’s entry to the team means there’s no place for Congolese winger Heritier Luvualu who made a sub appearance against Ushuru last Friday.

    Save for Muki’s entry to the first eleven, the starting cast against Ushuru all maintained their places. Oliver Maloba and David Gateri, considered impact players in recent matches, will once again start the game as outfielder Jimmy Bageya, keeper Ronny Kagunzi and overall skipper Calvin Masawa all start on the bench.

    Muranga SEAL, promoted to the second tier NSL this season, is an ‘unknown’ entity to City Stars as the two have never met in their football paths before.

    Starting XI vs Muranga SEAL: 23. Levis Opiyo, 5. Wesley Onguso, 4. Salim Abdalla, 22. Wycliffe Otieno, 28. Kevin Okumu, 3. Charles Otieno, 30. Anthony Kimani, 25. David Gateri, 17. Davis Agesa, 21. Oliver Maloba, 29. Ebrima Sanneh,

    Subs: 1. Ronny Kagunzi, 2. Elvis Ojiambo, 8. Calvin Masawa, 18. Jimmy Bageya, 16. Vincent Otieno, 15. Peter Mwangi Wainaina, 24. Cornelius Mwangi
