Makati, 20, scored the winning goal a minute to halftime as Nairobi Stima pipped MCF 2-1 in a round 21 National Super League (NSL) clash played at Camp Toyoyo on Monday 7 June 2021.

Makati’s goal, a second straight for resurgent Stima coming right after one last week in a 3-1 rout of Gusii United, turned out to be the decider as MCF’s 7scored a 73rd-minute consolation through Bradley Omondi.

Makati’s goal, his fourth of the season, came just three minutes after his teammate Hillary Otieno got to the end of a Benjamin Chaka goal for the opener.

Makati, a natural attacking midfielder, is on a season-long loan at Nairobi Stima alongside defensive midfielder Ronney Kola.

He initiated a flowing move to Fortune Omoto who returned the favor and he fired home a low shot at the near post to double the scores.

“We monitor the two youngsters very closely and we are happy when they put in a good shift to hand Nairobi Stima full points,” said team coordinator Samson Otieno

“They went on a mutually beneficial loan to gain much-needed exposure this season before they can return to contest for positions at City next term,”

“We are impressed by Makati’s current form as well as Kola’s progress and we have to thank his coaches Barrack and Macharia for putting trust in them.” added Samson

From the Monday win, Nairobi Stima has now eased their relegation worries by moving up two places to the 15th spot with 25 points and within seven points of fourth-placed MCF.

Attacking midfielder Rowland Makati scored the winning goal as Nairobi Stima saw off Kisumu AllStars 2-1 at Camp Toyoyo on Wednesday 17 February 2021 during an eleventh round National Super League (NSL) clash.

Makati’s goal completed a comeback win over their stubborn foes to lead Nairobi Stima upward to third from sixth in the 20-team log.

The powermen are now on 19 points and sit right behind second placed FC Talanta on goal difference and just two points off leaders Kenya Police.

While Makati scored the winning goal, it is his Nairobi City Stars team mate Ronney Kola, with whom he is on loan with at Stima, who started the comeback with an assist.

13 minutes after the restart, Kola squared a pass to John Njoroge who went on to score the leveler canceling out a first minute goal by the visitors.

Ten minutes later Njoroge turned provider by picking out Makati for the winning goal.

“It feels great to score once again. I am now just getting started,” said Makati who was signed in the offseason on a long term deal from Div One side Vapor Sports

“Team chemistry is playing a big part in our recent performances. The love in the team is aiding us a lot. We shall continue to put in our best.” he added

Makati’s latest goal adds on to his season opening strike and assist against promoted Soy United at Thika Stadium in mid December 2020.

He came off the bench then as his team trailed 2-0 to score once before providing an assist for Njoroge to force a share of the spoils with a 2-2 score line.

Kola on his part scored his first ever goal for the team – and in the NSL – in the last game as he guided Nairobi Stima to a 2-0 win over Silibwet Leons.

Next up for the on loan lads at Stima is an away game against Shabana.

Makati, Kola head out on loan

Two young prospects, Rowland Makati and Ronney Kola, will join second-tier side Nairobi Stima FC on loan for the first part of the 2020/21 season, commencing mid-November 2020.

The pair were identified during the Chapa Dimba Nairobi regional finals held at Jamhuri High School before securing moves to the club from lower-tier sides Vapor Sports (Makati) and Kenya School of Government (KSG) (Kola).

The loan move is aimed at providing the duo with valuable match experience and aiding their development.

“Following recommendations from Head Coach Sanjin Alagić, the two players will join Nairobi Stima to gain competitive experience,” said Team Coordinator Samson Otieno.

“The coach believes their growth will benefit from regular game time in the NSL, which offers a strong platform for development given their progression from lower leagues,” he added.

Head Coach Sanjin Alagić also expressed confidence in the players’ potential:

“The two are quality players with a bright future. After a season in the NSL, we expect to reintegrate them into the squad as we prepare them for Premier League football.”

Both Makati and Kola joined Simba wa Nairobi in the offseason on long-term contracts.
