Roving winger Rodgers Okumu aka Okuse has left his coastal comfort to join Nairobi City Stars from Coast Stima on a two-year deal.
Okumu arrived at City Stars over two weeks back for training as he awaited completion of transfer formalities.
“To scale my football upwards, I decided to move out of my comfort zone and go elsewhere. It’s a blessing to join City Stars and I am happy to be part of team,”
“I want to work hard and help the team to achieve it’s goals.” added the fleet-footed Okumu who operates on either wings.
Team coordinator Samson Otieno revealed the connection that finally landed Okumu to City Stars.
“During our game against Coast Stima at Toyoyo Okumu was top of his game against City Stars. He scored once and had two assists. From then on our scouts monitored all his games and were convinced he will be a good addition,”
“We are glad that, after negotiations, Coast Stima agreed to cut short his contract for him to join us. We thank his immediate former club for their consideration and we hereby welcome Okumu to City Stars.” added Samson
In joining City Stars, Okumu ended a five-year stay at Coast Stima. He will don jersey no. 13.
