Central midfielder Abuyeka Kubasu, a mid-season signing, has a wish list – to break into the Nariobi City Stars team before the 2022/23 FKF Premier League season comes to an end in June.
The immediate former Dagoretti High student featured for Vapor Sports in the third tier before crossing over to Simba wa Nairobi in February 2023.
Abuyeka is yet to make the cut for matchdays but believes it’s only a matter of time before makes his bow in the top flight.
But before then, he admits that he has his work cut out before he can achieve his dream.
“Training with Nairobi City Stars has been a real eye-opener. Mingling with some known and very experienced players has changed my view and approach,”
“I have learned so much in the last few months and have been brought up to speed on key aspects of the game that I may have bypassed while featuring in the lower leagues. Things like when to press effectively, one-time control, and many others,”
“I believe that I am a much better player now and I am all psyched up for the top flight. I am now working hard to make the matchday squad and then earn my first league game. From there I can build it up and establish myself further.”
“I am encouraged because some players who I featured with at Vapor Sports recently such as Timothy Ouma now in Sweden began making his big strides at City Stars. Now Rowland Makati, Pius Omachi, and Newton Ochieng whom I played with recently are slowly establishing themselves. I want to follow in their foot steps.” added Abuyeka
Other than featuring in midfield, Abuyeka can plug in at right-back which was his area of operation earlier on.
He is currently the only City Stars player yet to feature in the premier league this season. Another 31 players have already clocked their minutes in the top flight.
