For only the second time, Wazito FC will host Nairobi City Stars in the Premier League, this time in Kasarani Annex on Monday 9 May 2022 in a matchday 29 FKF Premier League game starting 3 pm.

The tie was initially scheduled for Sunday but was pushed back by a day due to a lack of venue.

Back in October, Francis Kimanzi was in charge at Wazito but his position has since been taken up by Fred Ambani who will be coming up against Nicholas Muyoti who masterminded the last City Stars win.

Heading to the game, both sides will parade draws from their previous games. Wazito carries a 1-1 draw from log leaders Kakamega Homeboyz as City Stas comes to the party with a 0-0 draw against Police.

Table-wise, City Stars is fifth, with 46 points, after results of other premier league games played by Sunday as Wazito comes in at 17th spot with 22 points. Both have played 22 games.

Bajaber among four changes against Wazito

Attacking midfielder Mohammed Hamudi Bajaber has for the first time ever been named to a 20-man squad for a premier league game, as Nairobi City Stars goes up against Wazito FC on Monday 9 May 2022 in Kasarani Annex starting 3 pm.

The January signing, on loan from Star Field Academy, is one of four changes made from the lot that drew 0-0 with Kenya Police last weekend ahead of the FFK Premier League matchday 29 game.

Bajaber, in for injured Oliver Maloba, is now in line for his premier league debut should he be handed playtime by head coach Nicholas Muyoti in the upcoming game

Other than Bajaber, the other three incoming players include defensive-mid Charles Chale Otieno, stopper Salim Shitu Abdalla and forward Davis Beast Agesa.

Shitu, out for the last two games against Sofapaka and Police, is in for Lennox Ogutu who takes a rest after featuring in the last ten straight games.

Chale, who sat out the Sofapaka and Police games, is back in place of Rowland Makati as Agesa returns after missing the last game to take up John Kamau’s position.

New date, venue for Wazito clash

Nairobi City Stars’ next FKF Premier League game against Wazito FC will be played on Monday 9 May 2022 in Nyayo Stadium starting 3 pm.

The game was initially planned for Sunday 8 May 2022 in Kasarani, at the same kick-off time, but the unavailability of the venue, as confirmed by home team Wazito FC,  necessitated the changes.

“Our host Wazito has written to us confirming the change in kick-off day from Kasarani on Sunday to Nyayo Stadium on Monday,”

“We have taken note of the changes and will adjust our schedule accordingly.” said club CEO Patrick Korir

Considering the shift in dates, the Wazito – Nairobi City Stars clash will be the last round 29 tie in the 2021-22 FKF Premier League schedule as all other ties will be played between Friday 6 and Sunday 8 May.

Onyango, Ouma in Week 3 dream team

For a second successive round of games in the 2021/22 FKF Premier League season, Nairobi City Stars provided two players to the team of the week.

Stopper Kenedy Vidic Onyango who made the Week 2 dream team alongside Davis Beast Agesa, returns once again and is accompanied by teenage sensation Timothy Noor Ouma aka Babu.

During round three of games, City Stars took down Wazito 3-1 at the Thika Stadium to end a streak of six straight league losses by the same side.

Onyango scored the opening goal on 76 minutes with a power header off Dennis Decha Wanjala’s freekick.

That opened the floor for Babu – later named MVP after the match – to double matters just two minutes later in what was his third goal in as many matches.

Rodgers Okuse Okumu added the final one a minute to time. Eric Ombija provided assists for the last two goals.

Beyond the dream team inclusions, Simba wa Nairobi head coach Nicholas Muyoti was picked as the coach of the week as City Stars was named Team of the Week.
