Owino landed at City Stars during last season’s mid transfer window on a one-year deal from FC Talanta – with Dennis Oalo – at a time when the team was in the relegation red zone.

“We are more than happy that Vincent has chosen to extend his stay at City Stars. He is one of our best performers and very key to our setup. He made the right descision,” said head coach Nicholas Muyoti

    On his part, the player said;

“City Stars is my home and the best place for my career growth. That made the decision to extend the contract an easy one,”

“I can now focus on improving my performance and that of the team,” added Owino

Owino scored three times, had two assists and six key passes in 14 second leg games played last term as he clocked 1,123 minutes.

Second-half goals by Vincent Owino and substitute Dennis Oalo turned around a game at the Ulinzi Complex, Langata, as Nairobi City Stars came from behind to see off hosts Ulinzi Stars 2-1 during a matchday 15 tie played on Sunday 17 December 2023.

Ulinzi had gone ahead in the 37th minute after skipper Boniface Muchiri fired home a one-time volley off a float from the right by Enosh Ochieng.

But two minutes after the hour mark, City Stars were level when Vincent Owino got to the end of a flick by Mohammed Bajaber while in the box to tap in at close range past keeper Moses Wanyika.

Ten minutes later, Oalo, who had barely been on the pitch for two minutes after coming on for Elvis Noor, headed home a pinpoint cross from the right by Samuel Kapen who had initiated the first goal with a throwin.

Kapen was named the match MVP, and he went on to make it to the team of the week.

With the win, City Stars moved to sixth-spot with a new tally of 24-points.

Next up for Simba wa Nairobi is a year-ender away to Kakamega Homeboyz in Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega, on Friday 22 December, 2023.

    Vincent Owino inspired by brace

Nairobi City Stars midfielder Vincent Owino struck a brace during a 3-1 romp over Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday 25 November 2023 in Kasarani to improve his season tally to five goals.

Owino converted two penalties in either half to top up on Mohammed Bajaber’s early goal for Simba wa Nairobi to cruise to a comfortable 3-0 lead during the matchday 12 league tie.

“I really feel good as it’s the first time to score a brace in Nairobi City Stars colors. Though, I feel I can do more, nothing is impossible,” said the soft-spoken midfielder

Owino won the first penalty in added time of the first half after being fouled in the box while speeding to receive a flicked ball by Robinson Asenwa. He dusted himself up to place the ball home to double Simba wa Nairobi’s lead.

Within three minutes of the restart, he was at it again to score his second penalty after Asenwa had been felled in the box.

However, in under ten minutes after that second penalty, City Stars gave away a spot kick that Geoffrey Onyango converted for the Sharks’ consolation.

Coming off the game without a clean sheet, as has been the case in previous games, is a concern for Owino.

“We are progressing very well despite the team conceding many goals this season. I believe that if we fix this, we will win a lot more league matches going forward,” he said

Owino has so far featured in all 12 games for City Stars in the 2023-24 FKF Premier League season clocking 937 regular time minutes.

Besides his five goals, Owino has an assist, and five-second assists to his name.
