Nairobi City Stars hit log leaders Tusker FC 1-0 at their own backyard in Ruaraka on Friday 30 July 2021 during a round 29 Betking Premier League game to snap a three-game winless run.

Five changes against champions Gor Mahia

There will be five changes from the squad that faced Ulinzi Stars last weekend when Nairobi City Stars lineup for points against champions Gor Mahia at Ruaraka on Saturday 17 July 2021 starting 3 pm.

After sitting out two games against Bandari and Ulinzi due to injury, stopper Salim Shitu Abdalla returns to squad. He replaces utility back Edwin Buliba who was an unused substitute against Ulinzi.

Forward Davis Agesa is also back after skipping the Ulinzi game to replace Vincent Jamaica Otieno.

After sitting out one game, defensive mid Charles Chale Otieno and winger Rodgers Okuse Okumu are back as like-for-like replacements for two dependable players Sven Yidah and Oliver Maloba who are in the Kenyan U23 squad that travelled to Ethiopia for the U23 championship.

It will be the third time that Sven will miss a league game for City Stars this season, it will be the first time for Maloba.

While Chale was rested against Ulinzi, Okuse was out recuperating from an injury suffered in the previous game against Bandari.

The last change is the inclusion of reserve keeper Jacob Osano who swaps places with Elvis Ochoro.

From the squad that faced Gor in the final game of the first leg in mid May 2021, the changes are four; exit of Maloba, Sven, Buliba and striker Ebrima Sanneh.

Winger Azizi Okaka, stopper Wycliffe Otieno, attacking mid Timothy Noor Ouma and mid kingpin Peter Opiyo – who was injured then – are the new inclusions after missing the first leg clash that Gor won 1-0.

Striker Davis Agesa, defensive-mid Charles Otieno, goalkeeper Jacob Osano, winger Rodgers Okuse Okumu, and left-back Herit Mungai were all in Mombasa, but have been rested for the upcoming round 25 tie.

Their places have been taken by Azizi Okaka, Timothy Babu Ouma, keeper Elvis Ochoro, Vincent Jamaica Otieno and, Wesley Onguso.

Jamaica last featured for the side in early February away to Kakamega Homeboyz in Bukhungu while Onguso and Ochoro made the squad last in late May against Sofapaka at Ruaraka.

Due to injuries, Azizi has been out since late February against Zoo while Babu returns for the first time since the Tusker game in March.

Sickness rendered Okuse and Salim Abdalla – who missed the first leg tie against Ulinzi in January – out of the game while injury keeps striker Ebrima Sanneh out.

    Same lot for Nzoia clash

For a third straight match, head coach Sanjin Alagic has retained the 20-man squad that took on Western Stima and Kakamega Homeboyz, this time for the upcoming game against Nzoia United on Friday 25 June 2021 at Narok Stadium starting 3 pm.

    However, from the squad that faced Nzoia in the season opener at the same venue back in November 2020, there are four changes;

Teenagers Timothy Noor Ouma and Vincent Otieno Okoth, who earned their Premier League debuts back then, are missing, and in their places are fullbacks Kevin Okumu and Bolton Omwenga. The latter will be up against his former team.

The third change is that of keeper Elvis Ochoro who was the understudy to Stephen Njunge. His place has been taken up by Jacob Osano.

And the final one is striker Nicholas Kipkirui coming on for defender Edwin Buliba.

There are no changes to the squad that faced Western Stima on Tuesday as City Stars seek out Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday 19 June 2021 at Ruaraka during a premier league matchday 21 tie starting at 1 pm.

Head coach Sanjin Alagic has maintained the lot of 20 that delivered a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Western Stima at the same venue on Tuesday.

The squad remained as is after Herit Mungai, who forced a penalty that won the last game, maintained his spot for yet another game.

Though the squad remains the same from the immediate past game, there are four changes and one new addition to the 19-man squad that travelled to face Homeboyz in the first leg in early February for a game they lost 2-0 in Bukhugu Stadium.

Sven Yidah missed the first leg game due to a knee injury but is in for the upcoming one.

Overall skipper Calvin Masawa and field skipper Anthony Muki Kimani – nursing a shoulder injury then – are the other players that missed the fall in Bukhungu.

Striker Nicholas Kipkirui and right back Kevin Chumsy Okumu who were yet to join the club then, are the last two ‘new’ players in for the Homeboyz duel.

The new entrants take up the places of winger Aziz Okaka, striker Vincent Otieno aka Jamaica, defensive midfielder Charles Otieno and attacking midfielder Timothy Babu Ouma were all part of the first leg game.
