‘Okuse’ in 20-man squad for Gor Mahia clash

Head coach Sanjin Alagic has confirmed his 20-man squad to face champions Gor Mahia at the Utalii grounds on Sunday 16 May 2021 starting 3pm.

The upcoming tie is the 17th and final first leg clash of of the 2020/21 Kenyan Premier League season.

Flyer Rodgers Okuse Okumu who missed two recent friendly games has been passed fit to make the 20-man squad.

The same applies to lead striker Nicholas Kipkirui  who also sat out the two games due to a slight knock but recovered on time to make the list to face his immediate former employer Gor Mahia.

But out is mid kingpin Peter Pinchez Opiyo who had been struggling with a knock since the return to sporting activity in early May.

Pinchez missed the last game against Tusker in late March and it will be the second straight game that Sanjin will have to do without him.

Also out is teenager Timothy Babu Ouma who had made the squad in each of the last 16 games into the season.

Making it back to the match day lineup after missing the Tusker clash is striker Ebrima Sanneh. He had a fractured wrist in March but has now fully recovered.

Striker Ezekiel Odera is another arrival to the 20-man squad after the Tusker miss.

Odera, a former Gor employee, is one of three players that last featured in City Stars last premier league game against Gor in July 2016. Oliver Maloba and Calvin Masawa are the other two, and are both in the squad.

Odera and Sanneh take up the place of Ouma and John Kamau who takes a rest.

Also back is utility defender Edwin Buliba who, like Sanneh, is fully recovered from injury. He takes up the place of Wycliffe Otieno who has also been rested.
