Joshua Amunike scored minutes after the restart and Lawrence Luvanda added another deep in added time to hand Nairobi City Stars a 2-0 win over hosts Mwatate United at the Wundanyi Stadium during a matchday nine National Super League (NSL) tie played on Saturday 22 November 2025.
The win ended Simba wa Nairobi’s five-game winless streak moving the points tally to ten.
Amunike could have ended the game with a hat trick but was twice, unjustifiably, denied by the first assistant referee.
Mwatate had a chance to level the game in the 53rd minute but botched a penalty awarded after Kelvin Elias was adjudged to have hacked down a player in the box. It went wide off the posts.
Next up for City Stars is a home game against Nzoia United set for GEMS Cambridge, Karen, on Tuesday 29 November 2025 starting at 2pm.
