Nairobi City Stars wishes to announce that, following a formal request, Nicholas Muyoti has stepped down from his role as head coach.
The management can confirm that Muyoti handed in the request to exit the club immediately after a game against Posta Rangers played on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos in which City Stars let go a 1-0 lead to fall 2-1.
“As a team we hoped to improve on our performance from last season but, even after putting in the good fight, results have not been very positive,” said Muyoti
“After lots of soul searching and consultations I made a request to the management to allow me to step down and they have since granted me my wish. We have journeyed together over the years and I wish the team the very best going forward,” said the CAF ‘B’ licensed coach
Across his tenure Muyoti handed no less than 24 players their premier league debuts and led the club to two top six finishes across the last three seasons.
“Such departure points are never the best, but are sometimes inevitable. We would have loved to keep him at the club for longer as he developed a good set of players over time, but we also had to respect his wish and allow him to pursue other interests,” said club CEO Patrick Korir
Muyoti joined Simba wa Nairobi in September 2021 from Kakamega Homeboyz, and exits after leading the team across 116 premier league games.
