Robinson Asenwa’s lone goal within the first three minutes is all Nairobi City Stars needed to see off visiting Bandari 1-0 during an FKF Premier League matchday 14 clash in Ruaraka, Nairobi, on Saturday 9 December 2023.

Asenwa got to the end of a perfect Mohammed Bajaber layup before a quick control and shot on the turn that went in at the near post to the surprise of Bandari keeper Joseph Ochuka.

The win sent Simba wa Nairobi up to the 21-point mark, and up two places to seventh place in the 18-team log.

Keeper Mukolwe was later named the match MVP, and later earned a place in the team of the week alongside stopper Wycliffe Awiko Omondi, and flyer Bajaber who, separately, was nominated for Player of the Week.

Next up for City Stars is an away game to Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Complex on Sunday 17 December 2023, starting at 3 p.m.

Idah, Mose in for Bandari

Forward Brian Mose Nyambane and centreback Sostehnes Idah have been named for the upcoming matchday 14 FKF PRemier LEague tie against Bandari on Saturday 9 December, 2023 in Ruaraka starting at 3 p.m.

The two take up the places of Brian Mzee and Newton Ochieng who were part of the squad that faced Posta Rangers in the last encounter.

While Mose comes on after missing two games against Kariobangi Sharks and Posta Rangers, Idah is back after skipping four matches. He’s been out since match day seven against Muranga SEAL.

Samuel Kapen’s goal in the 18th minute settled a game of nerves as Nairobi City Stars took down league leaders and hosts Posta Rangers 1-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, on Saturday 2 December 2023, during a matchday 13 tie.

Kapen got to the end of an Edwin Buliba through ball on the right channel before cutting in at the edge of the box to fire in a left-footer past Posta keeper Samuel Njau.

With the win, Simba wa Nairobi moved three places up to ninth on the log with 18 points as Rangers stayed on top with 26 points.

Kapen was named the match MVP, and ultimately went on to make it to the team of the week thereafter together with keeper Edwin Mukolwe, and right-back Edwin Buliba.

Simba wa Nairobi, tactician Nicholas Muyoti, and Kapen were nominated for the team of the week, coach of the week,  and player of the week, in that order.

Newton Ochieng returns for Posta Rangers duel

Newton Ochieng has shaken off injury and has been included in the 18-man squad to face league leaders Posta Rangers during an FKF Premier League matchday 11 tie in Machakos Stadium on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Tony, as he is popularly known, has been sitting out games since limping off during matchday seven against Shabana in Homabay in late October 2023.

Aside from Newton, the other new inclusion to the squad is keeper Elvis Ochoro who takes up the place of Julius Ombacho.

The rest of the lot that delivered a 3-1 win over Kariiobangi Sharks have all maintained their places in the team.
