    Elite Pre-season Cup: Ulinzi Stars 2 Nairobi City Stars 2

    Two goals in added time from left-back Herit Mungai and midfielder Peter Opiyo enabled Nairobi City Stars to claw back from two goals down to tie Ulinzi Stars 2-2 in the third and final Elite Pre-season Cup Pool ‘B’ match in Kasarani Annex on Monday 26 September 2022.

    With the hard-fought point, Simba wa Nairobi went top of pool B which has a pending game between Kenya Police and MCF, but nonetheless guaranteed themselves a point in the semi-finals slated for Thursday 29 September.

    Ulinzi Stars took the lead via Clinton Omondi in the 19th minute who rifled home a shot to the far top corner before substitute Boniface Muchiri made it 2-0 in the 56th minute with a low drive after City Stars defenders failed to clear a throw-in.

    At the stroke of full time, Mungai sent a pile driver from range to the right top corner that beat keeper James Saruni all the way for Simba wa Nairobi to half the deficit.

    Deep into added time, substitute Elvis Noor Ojiambo got to the end of an Anthony Kimani pass in the box to square a ball for Peter Opiyo to bundle home the leveler.

    The latest point followed on the 4-1 win over second-tier side MCF on Saturday at the same venue.

    Elite Pre-season Cup: Nairobi City Stars 4 MCF 1

    A Daniel Odhiambo goal in added time just before half time break, and three more in the other half through Ezekiel Odera, a Kenedy Onyango penalty, and from Kelvin Etemesi led Nairobi City Stars to a 4-1 win over MCF on Saturday 24 September 2022 at Kasarani Annex during the second pool B tie in the Elite Pre-season Cup.

    Oliver Maloba was the toast after he provided three assists; for the first goal and the second one in the 58th minute, and went on to win the penalty in the 64th minute that yielded the third goal. Elvis Ojiambo provided the cross that Etemesi bundled home the fourth goal in the 80th minute.

    MCF substitute Isiaka Aleji tapped home a cutback for the consolation goal in the 79th minute. He came on a sub ten minutes earlier for Erick Michibu.

    The win followed up on a 1-1 draw against Kenya Police during the opening game at the same venue on Tuesday 20 September 2022.

    Up next for Simba wa Nairobi will be the final pool tie against Ulinzi Stars on Monday 26th at Annex starting 4 pm.

    Mohammed Hamudi Bajaber’s second-half strike canceled out a Francis Kahata header in the first half as Nairobi City Stars rallied to tie Kenya Police 1-1 in their opening Pro-Elite eight-club tournament at Kasarani Annex on Tuesday 20 September 2022.

    The game opened proceedings in Group ‘B’ made up of Ulinzi Stars and second-tier side MCF.

    Kahata was left unmarked in the box, and from the far post, headed in a David Ambulu delivery at the far post in the 39th minute for Police to take the lead heading to the break.

    Simba wa Nairobi scored in a similar fashion in the 69th minute when Bajaber was left unmarked to receive a spill from keeper Job Ochieng for the leveler.

    Samuel Kapeni had done well to keep the ball on the line and managed to release it to Newton Ochieng who floated a ball into the box that disturbed Ochieng.

    Next up is a game against MCF on Saturday 24 Sept 2022 at Kasarani Annex starting 2 pm.
