    Nairobi City Stars held home team Bidco United to a 0-0 draw to register a fifth clean sheet during an FKF Premier League matchday 18 tie played at Kasarani Annex on Tuesday 7 March 2023.

    No goals on the evening in the opening game of the second leg meant City Stars are yet to put a goal past Bidco United as hosts for a third time in as many seasons.

  • Six changes for Bidco United clash

    Six changes for Bidco United clash

    Midfielders Anthony Muki Kimani, Ronney Kola, and Mohammed Bajaber, as well as striker Samuel Kapen, are all back in the City Stars squad for the upcoming round 18 clash against Bidco United in Kasarani Annex on Tuesday 7 March 2023 starting 3 pm. 

    Muki returns after six games out, Bajaber after three games, while Kapen and Kola had been out for the last two games. All four had varied injuries.

    Centreback Salim Abdallah who re-signed for the team recently after a short break also makes the squad.

    Elvis Noor Ojiambo is the last addition. Fielded in the first 16 games of the first leg, Elvis sat out the final game of the first leg against Ulinzi Stars due accumulation of yellow cards.

    The other 15 players maintained their positions for the Tuesday duel.

    Bidco United will, for just the third time in the Kenyan top-flight league, host Nairobi City Stars in an 18th round – and first tie in the second leg, at Kasarani Annex on Tuesday 7 March 2023 starting 3 pm.

    The game comes a year and two days since Bidco last played Simba wa Nairobi at the Thika Stadium, a game they went on to win 2-0 with goals from Peter Nzuki (penalty), and Jacob Onyango.

    Home team Bidco will be seeking a second win over City Stars while the latter will be looking out for a first win.

    It will be another face-off between City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti and his counterpart Anthony Akhulia of Bidco United.

    Into the game, City Stars is reeling from a 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars from the previous game while Bidco United is on a high of a 2-0 win over Sofapaka from their last encounter.

    Kapen, Newton named for the season opener against Bidco

    Newly recruited Samuel Kapen and Newton Ochieng are in line for their debuts for Nairobi City Stars in the Kenyan Premier League after being named for the season opener against Bidco United in Nyayo Stadium on Sunday 20 November 2022 starting 3 pm.

    Kapen and Newton are two of the four recruits that made the 18-man squad for the game. They are joined by immediate former Kangemi All-Stars forward Kelvin Etemesi, and former Kibera Black Stars forward Daniel Dante Odhiambo.

    Kapen, formerly of Posta Rangers, who joined City Stars from Black Stars, is in line for his second stub at the top-flight.

    But for Newton, Etemesi, and Odhiambo, it will be a big leap from lower-tier football to the top flight.

    They will be joined in their quest for Premier League status by the now fully recovered Ronney Kola who missed the 2021-22 Premier League season due to injury.

    The four join 14 others who have been regular players for Simba wa Nairobi in the last two seasons.

    Nairobi City Stars will kick off the 2022-23 FKF Premier League season with a home game against Thika-based Bidco United on Sunday 20 November 2022 in Nyayo Stadium starting 3 pm.

    It will be meeting number five for the two in top-flight football, but only the third time for City Stars as the host team.

    It’s been a win a piece from the previous two games hosted by City Stars. While Bidco won the first one 2-1 in July 2021 in Ruaraka with goals from David Orem and City Stars’ old boy David Gateri. Ezekiel Odera scored a consolation penalty.

    City Stars claimed the next one 2-0 in Thika Stadium in October of the same year with goals from Nicholas Kipkirui and Erick Ombija.

    The Sunday tie becomes the first Premier League game between the two in Nyayo Stadium.

    Once again, City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti will be coming up against his counterpart Anthony Akhulia for the third time. For Akhulia, it will be the fifth time that he will be facing City Stars in the Premier League.
