Sven hits KPL century

Offseason recruit Sven Yidah, a defensive mid, earned a historic century of Kenyan Premier League games when he started against Bandari at Kasarani on Friday 11 December 2020 during match day three into the 2020/21 season.

The former Ligi Ndogo star arrived at Simba wa Nairobi in September with 97 top flight appearances, all gained while at Kariobangi Sharks between 2017 and 2020.

He topped up on the 97 with two more premier league games with sub appearances against game one of the current season against Nzoia Sugar in Narok – his debut in City Stars colors, and against KCB in the follow up game.

And, to claim the rare milestone, Sven added one more in the Bandari game where he earned his first start at City Stars.

Prior to that monumental game, Sven talked of his journey that has now delivered the landmark.

“It’s a great feeling to play my 100th match in the league. I dreamt of playing here (KPL) and I am happy that chance came early for me just a short while after high school,”

“My Academy Ligi Ndogo prepared me well by giving me opportunities to play in senior football early enough,”

“I want to also give John Kemboi, my former physio at Sharks a big thank you for helping me stay in shape and being very supportive when I had an injury set back in 2018,”

“I thank my new Coach Sanjin (Alagic) for believing in me, signing me at City Stars and giving me play time to enable me reach this milestone,”

“I want to make these numbers count by serving my new team City Stars with dedication so that we can have something to smile about when the season closes.” concluded Sven
