Head-to-head: Nairobi City Stars (H) vs Bidco United (A): 2022-23 FKF-PL season

Nairobi City Stars will kick off the 2022-23 FKF Premier League season with a home game against Thika-based Bidco United on Sunday 20 November 2022 in Nyayo Stadium starting 3 pm.

It will be meeting number five for the two in top-flight football, but only the third time for City Stars as the host team.

It’s been a win a piece from the previous two games hosted by City Stars. While Bidco won the first one 2-1 in July 2021 in Ruaraka with goals from David Orem and City Stars’ old boy David Gateri. Ezekiel Odera scored a consolation penalty.

City Stars claimed the next one 2-0 in Thika Stadium in October of the same year with goals from Nicholas Kipkirui and Erick Ombija.

The Sunday tie becomes the first Premier League game between the two in Nyayo Stadium.

Once again, City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti will be coming up against his counterpart Anthony Akhulia for the third time. For Akhulia, it will be the fifth time that he will be facing City Stars in the Premier League.

Elly Kessy Osotsi lands from Kangemi All Stars

Towering stopper Elly Kessy Osotsi has joined Nairobi City Stars from third-tier side Kangemi All-Stars for the 2022-23 FKF Premier League season.

In joining Simba wa Nairobi, the six-foot-four lad joins the backline department that was left with only Kenedy Vidic Onyango and Edwin Malebo Buliba following departures at the end of last season.

“I am very happy and humbled to join Simba Wa Nairobi. I am eager to learn from the experienced players and the exceptional technical bench and add to what I have to become a top player,”

“I am also determined to achieve my goals not only to mention getting a National team call up.” added Osotsi

Elly will don jersey number 4 which was vacated by Salim Shitu Abdalla.

He’s been active in pre-season featuring in eleven of 18 games played. Besides his defensive duties, he provided one assist as he went on to clock a total of 809 minutes.

He is one of the arrivals for the new season besides Samuel KapenClifford OumaNewton OchiengAndrew KisiluKelvin EtemesiDaniel Odhiambo, and Pius Omachi.

Pius Omachi joins Nairobi City Stars

Striker Pius Omachi Yatoli will scale up his football from third-tier side Vapor Sports to Nairobi City for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Omachi, the immediate former Dagoretti High school skipper, is one of the youngsters roped in by head coach Nicholas Muyoti to bolster Simba wa Nairobi’s attack.

“I am happy to join Nairobi City Stars and ready to work hard,”

“I am eager and ready to learn from the senior players and be a focused and disciplined player to achieve my own goals as well as those set by the club.” said Omachi

Omachi takes up jersey number 7 which belonged to flyer Rodgers Okuse Okumu.

Omachi is one of the new faces in the team besides Samuel Kapen, Clifford Ouma, Newton Ochieng, Andrew Kisilu, Kelvin Etemesi, and Daniel Odhiambo.

Daniel Odhiambo officially joins Nairobi City Stars

Daniel Odhiambo arrives from Kibera Black Stars

Offensive midfielder Daniel Odhiambo Ochieng will feature for Nairobi City Stars in the upcoming 2022-23 FKF Premier League season.

Odhiambo, best known as Dante, has been training with Simba wa Nairobi since August and is now a confirmed signing for the upcoming season.

“I want to take this time to return all the glory to God for this chance to have been able to sign with this great club Nairobi City Stars,”

“I take this opportunity as a platform to showcase my talent to the fullest, and to help the team win major trophies in the future.” said Odhiambo, a former Kenya U17 player

During the preseason, Odhiambo featured in nine games clocking 589 minutes. He scored twice.

Odhiambo will don jersey number 17 which belonged to Nicholas Kipkirui. He joins Samuel Kapen, Clifford Ouma, Newton Ochieng, Andrew Kisilu, and  Kelvin Etemesi as the newcomers to the team ahead of the next season.

Kelvin Etemesi: from Kangemi All Stars to City Stars

Utility forward Kelvin Etemesi Injili has joined Nairobi City Stars from third-tier side Kangemi All-Stars for the 2022/23 FKF Premier League season.

Etemesi plugs into virtually all positions up front and will provide coach Nicholas Muyoti with extra options.

“Joining City is a dream come true for me. I had been following Timothy Ouma who was my mirror, and he always encouraged me that someday I will play in the top flight,”

“Here I am. I am ready to work to achieve my goals and help the team,” said Etemesi

Etemesi has been in the Simba wa Nairobi ranks since August 2022 and has gone on to score four times and provide one assist from 13 games played.

Etemesi inherits jersey number 20 which belonged to Ouma who moved to Swedish top-tier side IF Elfsborg.

Other than Etemesi, the other new arrivals include; Samuel Kapen, Clifford Ouma, Newton Ochieng and Andrew Kisilu.
