Head-to-head: Nairobi City Stars (H) vs ihiga Bullets (A): 2022/23 FKF Premier League season

For only the second time across two seasons, Nairobi City Stars will host Vihiga Bullets, in Kasarani Annex on Sunday 16 April 2023 during a matchday 25 tie set to kick off at 1 p.m.

Simba wa Nairobi last hosted the Bullets a year-and-a-half ago, on 6 November 2021 in Ruaraka, a match they went on to win 4-0.

In between then and now, City Stars has twice traveled to Kakamega to face the same side. A 2-1 win and an embarrassing 4-2 loss were the results from the reverse tie in the 2021/22 season, and in the first leg tie for the 2022/23 season, respectively.

Ahead of the game, both sides parade losses from their mid-week games; City Stars having gone down 4-2 to Kenya Police, and Bullets a 3-0 fall to KCB. Both games were played at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Table-wise, City Stars is in relegation spot 16 with 20 points with a 12-point buffer over Bullets who take the wooden spoon.

Coaching-wise, Nicholas Muyoti will be in charge for a fourth game against Bullets who are currently being handled by Milton Kidiga.

A 19th-minute penalty by Vincent Owino, and added time goal by Ezekiel Odera fell short of four goals scored by home team Kenya Police for Nairobi City Stars to go down 4-2 at the Police Sacco Stadium during a matchday 24 FKF Premier League tie.

Derrick Otanga opened the scores for Police in the 13th minute for a lead that lasted only six minutes as Simba wa Nairobi canceled it out with Owino’s penalty earned after Kelvin Etemesi had been brought down in the box.

Substitute Elvis Rupia slammed home an uncleared ball in the 48th minute, and added a penalty in the 66th minute, to top up on Clifton Miheso’s 62nd-minute goal for a 4-1 lead.

Substitute Odera then halved the deficit with a cool finish in the second minute of added time to add respectability to the scoreline.

With the latest result, City Stars remain 16th on the log as Kenya Police – hosting City Stars for the first time in a year-and-a-half – went a position up to fifth with 40 points.

Next up for City Stars is a home game against Vihiga Bullets on Sunday 16 April 2023 in Kasarani Annex starting at 1 p.m.

Head-to-head: Police (H) vs Nairobi City Stars (A): 2022/23 FKF Premier League season

For only the second time in the Kenyan topflight, Kenya Police will host Nairobi City Stars during a 24th round FKF Premier League at the Police Sacco Stadium, South C, starting 3.15 p.m.

Police first hosted Simba wa Nairobi in Kasarani Annex back on 16 October 2023 during the second game of last season. They went on to lose the duel 2-0. Timothy Ouma and Ezekiel Odera scored the goals.

During that game, legendary John Bobby Ogola was the Police head coach, and he came up against Nicholas Muyoti who went on to post his first win as a City Stars coach.

It’s now a year and a half later after that game that Police are hosting City Stars once again,  and Muyoti will be up against another legend of the game; coach Francis Baraza.

Barry, as Baraza is fondly known, was in charge when the two sides last met in the league on 7 February 2023 in Kasarani Annex during the first leg of the current season.

Police canceled out a 1-0 first-half deficit from Odera’s goal with a quickfire response within a minute by Alvin Mang’eni for Police to come from behind and win it 2-1.

Heading to the mid-week game, City Stars tags along with a 3-2 loss to Posta Rangers suffered at the same venue on Easter Sunday, as Police parade a 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards registered on the same day in Nyayo Stadium.

On the log, Police sit sixth in the 18-team standings with 37 points, 17 clear of 16th-placed City Stars
