Simba was Nairobi
Nairobi City Stars, often referred to as City Stars or Simba wa Nairobi, is a Kawangware based club currently competing in the second tier Kenyan National Super League.
Nairobi City Stars was founded in 2001 as Kawangware United then renamed to World Hope FC after a charitable organization that bought them out in 2003 following the relegation of the original club.
After one season in the Nationwide League, World Hope was promoted back to the 2004/15 Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
In October 2008, the club was rechristened Nairobi City Stars after being bought out by Ambassadors in Sport (AIS Kenya).
City Stars strength lies in its enterprising youth structure having provided nominees for the New young player categories in the Kenyan Premier League Awards in 2009 (David Gateri), 2011 (Dan Sserunkuma), 2014 (Kevin Omondi & Nicholas Kamau), 2015 (Ebrima Sanneh) and 2016 (Oliver Maloba).
In April 2019 Nairobi City Stars was acquired in full by Jonathan Jackson Foundation (JJF). With resource allocation and managerial overhaul, the returned to the KPL after seasons by winning the second tier National Super League (NSL).
